  5. The Old Mill Square
  6. WonderWorks

1. Dollywood

No trip to Pigeon Forge is complete without a visit to Dollywood, Dolly Parton's world-famous theme park. Spread across 160 acres in the Smoky Mountain foothills, Dollywood offers a perfect blend of thrilling roller coasters, live music and shows, authentic Southern cuisine, and master craftsmanship demonstrations. From the high-speed Wild Eagle to the family-friendly Dragonflier, there is a ride for every comfort level. And do not leave without trying the cinnamon bread. Trust me on that.

2. The Island in Pigeon Forge

The Island is a lively entertainment complex that feels like the heartbeat of Pigeon Forge. Its centerpiece is the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, a 200-foot-tall observation wheel offering breathtaking views of the mountains and the town below. The Island also features a huge dancing fountain show set to music, dozens of shops, restaurants serving everything from barbecue to Italian, and the Island Showroom with live entertainment. It is a wonderful place to spend an evening.

3. Great Smoky Mountains National Park

The most visited national park in the United States is just minutes from the Pigeon Forge strip, and it is absolutely breathtaking. With over 800 miles of hiking trails, rushing waterfalls, historic cabins and mills, and an incredible diversity of wildlife, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a world unto itself. Drive the scenic Cades Cove Loop for a chance to see deer, black bears, and turkeys, or hike to Laurel Falls for a rewarding waterfall view. The park is free to enter and offers something magical in every season.

4. Dollywood's Splash Country

When the Tennessee summer heat kicks in, head to Dollywood's Splash Country. This 35-acre water park features twisting water slides, a massive wave pool, a relaxing lazy river, and dedicated areas for younger children. The RiverRush water coaster is a highlight, combining the thrill of a roller coaster with the splash of a water ride. It is the perfect way to cool off and have some family fun.

5. The Old Mill Square

Step back in time at the historic Old Mill, an 1830s grist mill that still grinds grain daily. The Old Mill Square has grown into a lovely shopping and dining district surrounding the mill, with charming local shops, artisan bakeries, and the famous Old Mill Restaurant serving up classic Southern comfort food. The grits are legendary, and the setting along the Little Pigeon River is genuinely picturesque. It is a wonderful spot for a leisurely morning or afternoon.

6. WonderWorks

You cannot miss WonderWorks. The building is literally upside down, and that is just the beginning. Inside, you will find over 100 interactive science exhibits covering topics from space exploration to natural disasters. Kids (and adults) can experience hurricane-force winds, lie on a bed of nails, design and ride a roller coaster, or try to solve an escape room. It is both educational and genuinely entertaining. WonderWorks also features a 3D adventure ride, a laser-tag arena, and a full arcade.

7. Pigeon Forge Snow

Want to go snow tubing in July? Pigeon Forge Snow makes it possible. This indoor snow park is open year-round and features real snow made fresh daily. The main attraction is a multi-lane tubing hill that gives you that winter thrill no matter the temperature outside. There is also a snow play area for younger kids. It is a unique experience you will not find many other places, and the kids absolutely love it.

8. Titanic Museum Attraction

The Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge is a stunning, half-scale replica of the original RMS Titanic, and it offers a deeply moving experience. As you enter, you receive a boarding pass with the name of a real passenger, and you follow their story through the ship. The museum houses more than 400 authentic artifacts from the Titanic and its sister ships. The exhibits are immersive and respectful, telling the stories of the passengers and crew with extraordinary detail. It is one of the most thoughtfully designed museums I have ever visited.

9. Alcatraz East Crime Museum

For something completely different, step into Alcatraz East, a fascinating crime and law enforcement museum. The exhibits cover the history of crime and punishment in America, from the Old West to modern forensic science. You will see artifacts from famous criminals and cases, including John Dillinger's car and Al Capone's belongings. The interactive exhibits let you try your hand at forensic investigation, and the sections on counterfeiting and cybercrime are eye-opening. It is surprisingly engaging for all ages.

10. The Track Fun Park

The Track Fun Park is classic family fun at its best. With multiple locations in Pigeon Forge, The Track offers go-kart racing on several different track layouts, a challenging miniature golf course, bumper boats, arcade games, and a Ferris wheel. The go-karts are the main draw, with tracks that range from kid-friendly to high-speed. It is the kind of place where you can easily spend a few hours and leave with a smile on everyone's face.
